Description
C1950’s Catalog of Magic that allowed each shop to fill in their mailing information. This one was from Brockman’s Magic Shop.
Syd Brockman originally ran the Brockman Leather Co. in downtown Seattle. He fell in love with magic after working at Swanson's Sorcery, a magic shop hidden in the back room of a local key shop on First Avenue. Around 1958, Brockman bought out Swanson’s inventory, along with remaining stock from local dealer Jean Foley, and officially opened Brockman's Magician's Supply.
The iconic shop was famously located at 110 Seneca Street. It served as a vital gathering hub for amateur and professional magicians across the Pacific Northwest until the building was unfortunately demolished in 1974.
Local visitors fondly remember the storefront featuring a classic "sawing a lady in half" illusion utilizing a full-sized mannequin right on display. Brockman himself was known for patiently teaching kids their very first tricks right over the counter.
Great piece of Magic history.
