The "Impossible" Lemon Trick is a vintage parlor and stage mentalism/magic routine published and manufactured by Abbott's Magic Manufacturing Company of Colon, Michigan. This complete outfit consists of:
The Props & Gimmicks: Includes the special wooden loader/pencil gimmick used to insert a tightly rolled bill into a real lemon, along with small coin/bill pay envelopes and small white cards used for tracking serial numbers during performance.
The Printed Manuscript: Original mimeographed instruction sheet titled "'IMPOSSIBLE' LEMON TRICK", bearing the classic publisher imprint "ABBOTT'S MAGIC MANUFACTURING COMPANY, COLON, MICHIGAN" at the bottom.
The Effect: A borrowed dollar bill's serial number is recorded, and a corner is torn off and retained by a spectator. The bill vanishes from an envelope, only to be found inside an unprepared, uncut lemon chosen from a group of three. The serial number and torn corner match perfectly.
The "Bill in Lemon" plot is one of the most famous and impactful classics in all of parlor and stage magic. Abbott's Magic (the legendary "Magic Capital of the World" in Colon, Michigan) produced some of the most widely performed commercial versions of this effect during the mid-20th century. Featuring Abbott's original typed manuscript and the hard-to-find wooden loader rod, this outfit carries strong historical value for collectors of mid-century Michigan magic publications and vintage mentalism props.
