Novel use and advertising for a dye tube. Haven’t seen one like this before.
The See-Thru Dye Tube is a classic commercial silk magic utility prop designed to perform visual productions, vanishes, and color changes. The outfit consists of:
The Gimmick: A clear plastic/vinyl transparent cylinder bound with bright red vinyl edge-trim, featuring internal gimmicked chambering to hold rolled silk handkerchiefs while remaining visually open.
The Printed Instructions: Includes the original instruction manuscript titled "SEE-THRU DYE TUBE", detailing step-by-step handling for PRODUCTIONS!, VANISHES!, and COLOR-CHANGES! of silk scarfs.
Silk color-changing dye tubes are among the most versatile utility devices in platform and stage conjuring. The transparent variant provides a modern visual twist on the classic Billy O'Connor / Palming Dye Tube principle, allowing for open stage presentation without relying entirely on deceptive hand alignment. Complete with its original printed instructions and clean vinyl tube structure, this piece is a practical utility item for working silk workers and mid-to-late 20th-century stage apparatus collectors.
