Just Clowning Around: Sharing God's Love Through Laughter (authored by Janice P. Petrea) is a specialized instructional guide for Christian clowning, gospel magic, and faith-based performance arts. The softcover book details makeup techniques, costume development, character creation, slapstick skits, and gospel trick routines designed to communicate spiritual lessons through visual humor, balloons, and family-friendly magic.
Gospel clowning and visual ministry performance emerged as a distinct genre in the late 20th century, blending traditional circus physical comedy with object lessons and educational magic for churches, youth programs, and community outreach events. Complete with a bright yellow cover featuring a performer in clown attire holding a paint roller and smile prop, this volume serves as a comprehensive reference for gospel performers, youth ministry leaders, and collectors of specialized variety art literature.
